Consider our guest and their steps in building a podcast relying on a PLN. Can your PLN be used to help professional development post-course? If yes, how? If no, what limitations exist?

After watching this week’s video, I learned that our guest Mo Amir has changed from being a blogger to using blogs to develop his profession, and using Twitter to establish opportunities to communicate with others, thereby gradually expanding PLN. I think I am PLN can help my professional development after class, because I can establish communication with people in the same major or in the same field, expand my knowledge reserve by listening to others’ opinions, and learn about the experience of my predecessors in my field by establishing exchanges. Learning from these experiences can make me develop better.

Can your PLN be relied on to open professional opportunities?

In my opinion, PLN can be used to provide career opportunities. By expanding PLN, we can recognize more people. Establishing exchanges with people in the same field can absorb the experience of these people and help us. Subsequent development has also created conditions for future employment opportunities. People in different fields can learn about the ways and methods of working in different environments by establishing exchanges, and in the future, by using these contacts, they can establish contacts in current majors, or you can Treat them as potential customers.

What is media literacy?“Media literacy” in this context refers to the medium of delivering messages (print, graphics, animation, audio, video, Web sites, and so on), the crafting of the message for a particular medium—the graphic “look and feel” of a Web site, for example, and the impacts the media message has on audiences. As the SARS team members demonstrated, it takes a high level of media literacy to select the right medium for a particular topic; obtain the proper permissions to reuse others’ material; design and create Web pages, graphics, animations, videos, and games (including selecting the right digital tools for the tasks); and even choose the appropriate communication methods to promote their work to other students.( Trilling and Fadel P66 )Therefore, I think that media literacy is to create an equal and fair platform through the dissemination of information to effectively obtain, analyze, comment, and disseminate information. At the same time, it enables people to correctly judge and evaluate the meaning and functional literacy of media information, and effectively create and disseminate information.

Why is it important?

Media literacy can enable people to understand basic media knowledge and how to use media. You can also learn to judge the meaning and value of media information. And learn the knowledge and skills of creating and disseminating information. Let us know more about how to use mass media to develop ourselves. Media literacy includes the ability to accept media products and the ability to look at the content of the media with an independent and critical perspective and the ability to use the media constructively. Media literacy is not only about using The needs of the media should also be part of the quality of citizens in modern society.

 Why is it dismissed?

Media literacy is easy to ignore because most people on social media show an untruthful side because there is an untruthful side, so they express their ideas at will, so they don’t take media literacy into account. And social media is now widely used in business, many of them to attract attention, gain attention, create business value, and therefore give up authenticity.

Why should you aim for varied views but the factual consensus in your PLN?

Everyone has different ideas and perspectives on issues, so perspectives may not be the same, but it depends on how we treat different perspectives. If we can absorb different perspectives and understand the perspectives of different perspectives, we can expand our horizons, if we reject different viewpoints, it will affect our ability to look at the problem objectively. The ability to reach a consensus in PLN for different viewpoints also reflects the inclusiveness of PLN.

Explore the video provided and reflect on the themes of a PLN in a professional capacity.

After watching the video, I was deeply touched. Brad Baker participated in many activities related to indigenous and anti-racism and established a professional social network through these activities. It made me realize that PLN can build a professional community and allow everyone to express their own opinions and voices so that everyone can build a better communication space. We can listen to different voices while we share our opinions. This can also expand the PLN and make the PLN more diverse and inclusive.

Which social media platforms are beneficial in education?

Regarding social platforms that are beneficial to education, I think there are two types, one is social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), “theorizes that technology is reshaping the ways humans create, store and distribute knowledge.” (Veletsianos & Couros, 2010;2014;), through social media is a very convenient way to expand PLN through social media to recognize people from all over the world, so we can establish a dialogue with people in the same profession and the same field through social media platforms, Through sharing and listening to opinions, through effective communication, to learn more knowledge, but learning through social media also has some drawbacks, because social media can share and spread information at will so that sometimes false information is received, So it is still necessary to determine the authenticity and reliability of the source of the information. The second is some professional learning social platforms (Coursera iTunes U, etc., such professional learning websites will be more reliable, not only can you see the courses you want online, but you can also establish communication with teachers and students who are studying. It increases the time for communication and can effectively deal with various problems. Therefore, in the current era of big data, it is very effective and convenient to use social media platforms for the development of education.

Consider the equality that exists when all have the same platform to engage community dialogues.

Only in an equal environment can we better engage everyone in the dialogue. When talking on a social media platform, everyone will not be affected by the identity and background of the other party. Everyone can freely express their views and ideas, and more people can participate in it and have better communication. Increased opportunities for interaction.

when working with the vulnerable sector, how does social media fit into professionalism and regulations?

When working with disadvantaged groups, we must take into account that they are inclined to the opinions of others. For this reason, we must have professionalism and regulations on social media, so that we can better share our opinions because the disadvantaged groups are more It is easy to accept the opinions of others, so it is necessary to set a better example, which can be used as a beacon on their way forward and avoid affecting their ideas.

What are the benefits of a diverse and inclusive PLN in social media sharing that understands where you are coming from with messaging that impacts the community?

For those who share on social media, having a diverse and inclusive PLN means that there will be more sharing and dissemination space. We can learn about ideas and opinions in different regions and fields, and let us have more More and better sources of information can inspire our better views and ideas, and at the same time allow people from different regions and different fields to share and discuss their own ideas and opinions. For example, in this era of accelerated globalization and Informatization, a diversified and inclusive PLN will better understand the ideas and needs of people in different regions.

Consider the audiences and how we adapt our messaging accordingly.

Understanding the audience’s thoughts and preferences and ensuring the authenticity of the information is the most important part of our dissemination of information. In this most popular era of social media, we must ensure the authenticity and reliability of the information source, taking into account the format that readers and viewers like, and considering the differences of the audience itself, so we must ensure the authenticity of the information and increase some interest at the same time, In order to better attract readers and audiences.

Research our guest and see how they leveraged their network into a campaign.

When researching our guest Markiel Simpson, we can see that his PLN is very diverse and inclusive. For this reason, he participated in many community alliances and political activities, and spoke for people of color, and made full use of it. Sharing and discussing this kind of views will attract the attention of more like-minded people, thus increasing the attention and social circle, which also paves a good path for election activities.

How would you create a PLN prior to engaging a social media campaign on a topic of your choice?

I chose the theme of online shopping and takeaway. Because in the Covid-19 environment, everyone has reduced the habit of going out and spends a lot of time at home, so the habit of going out shopping every week has become online shopping, and I also order takeaways. For this, I started to use many online shopping and takeaway channels (for example: Amazon, Uber EatS, Skip), so I also established a PLN for online shopping and takeaways, because I can see me on these apps I want to evaluate the things I want to buy and understand their experience after using them. Secondly, I also follow some recommendations for good things on some social software and learn about some new products.

Choose a topic, consider your audiences, and consider how you would crate a social media campaign leveraging your PLN.

For online shopping and takeaways, I can see all the post-purchase reviews, I can also ask them about the post-purchase experience, I will also buy a good product, share my feelings, so as to avoid people buying inappropriate or unsavorable products, or on social software (e.g. Instragram, Tiktok) to see some bloggers share a good post-use experience, so that we can discuss in the comments or discussion group whether the product is suitable for us.

My PLN and Inclusion

* How diverse is your existing PLN?

It seems to me that my PLN is not very diverse for the time being, but I’m trying to change it because I’m a more realistic person, so I have very few friends on the Internet, but now I’m using a lot of social media to make new friends and start watching news and entertainment news from all over the world, because I think that if there are problems you can listen to others’ suggestions and help others make progress together.

* In your PLN, are you learning from a variety of voices or are you the loudest in the room?

I think I am a more able to learn from a variety of voices, because I like to listen to all kinds of information, if someone around me or meet people have a high knowledge reserve and clear understanding, this can make my knowledge more abundant, more open-minded, but in the process if I think I have a better opinion I will also publish.

* Do you participate in a silo of information sharing (similar themes or wide range of interests)?

I prefer to participate in the sharing of topics that interest me more, such as a movie I’m following, and I’ll read people’s comments before or after, and I’ll express my opinion.

* How can you use a diverse PLN to broaden your views of inclusion?

In my opinion, we can use the diversity of our PLNs to absorb the views and opinions of others, or to express our understanding, to make us more inclusive, because inclusiveness allows us to broaden our horizons and learn more about it.

* In your professional setting of choice, do you think inclusion is actively embraced?

Because I’m an economics student and probably work later, it seems to me that inclusion in the economic sphere is positively accepted, because as the global economy gets better, people from all countries work closely together, so that everyone and every country have different cultures and customs, but in an inclusive situation everyone gets to know and accept it first, which makes world trade better.

* What is the learning outcome of your PLN and how are you ensuring your exposure to diversity and inclusion?

I think my PLN learning results are to make me a person, make me more talkative, more opinionated, will listen to and express different views and opinions, in order to be exposed to diversity and inclusiveness, I will use different social software to communicate with people in different countries, but also with students to express their views, so that we grow together.

* How has your thinking about inclusion and PLN evolved after reviewing the videos and readings?

By reading materials and watching videos, it seems to me that inclusion cannot divide people differently, and I believe that in PLN I will continue to pay attention to and consider this, because PLN and tolerance are inseparable, tolerance will allow us to better listen to other people’s views and express clear opinions when developing the Internet.

What digital platforms are students currently using to develop their professional network?

There are many digital platforms that can develop our professional network. For example, you can search for the professional information we need on Google Youtube, you can also use Facebook to discuss professional knowledge with some people, and you can also share and read your own and others’ opinions.

What could the student consider in expanding their professional learning network?

I think we must pay attention to protecting our privacy, but at the same time we must disclose some personal information appropriately. Because this can promote the safety and effectiveness of our professional learning network.

Personal Learning Networks and Digital Identity

• What does it mean to network using social media?

“In our PLNs, we learn what we want to learn using the vast resources and people online (or off) that can help us learn it. Each of our networks is unique, created and developed to our personalised learning goals that evolve and grow throughout our lives.”

Social media is the opinions, main experiences, opinions and platforms shared between people. Therefore, we can use this media technology to enhance the quality of learning with the Internet by promoting opportunities for the use of resources and services, as well as long-distance communication and cooperation. Provide us with a connection with a new world full of learning resources.

• How are we motivated to participate in networked publics?

In our understanding, the skills at the centre of networking involve an ability to identify and understand other people’s work in relation to one’s own, and to assess the value of the connection with these others for potential future work. The result of networking is a personal professional network, i.e., an egocentric, personally and intentionally created network of people set up by an individual specifically in the context of her professional activities. This network gathers a heterogeneous circle of people, distributed across different groups and places, and connected to the individual with connections of varying degrees of strengths (Granovetter, 1983; Nardi, et al., 2000).

In today’s society, while the Internet promotes the progress of the public society in its own unique way, it also brings a new breath to public participation in practice. It can promote personal opinions and create unlimited space. That is to say, the rapid development and wide application of the Internet can help Public participation in life provides a convenient and efficient platform.

• What are the risks & rewards of public communications?

Professional networking offers various benefits. From the individual’s perspective, it supports the development and growth of professionals’ careers (Cross, et al., 2003; Dulworth, 2006; Krattenmaker, 2002).

The essence of the network is resource sharing, so it provides multi-level, multi-faceted, multi-angle communication and cooperation for some people in need, and can also appropriately express their views and absorb other people’s reasonable ideas.
However, the resources on the Internet are also harmful. For example, we are now in a Covid-19 environment. Due to some untrue messages, some people received the wrong messages and did some wrong things.

• What is a digital identity?

I think digital identity is the embodiment of people’s identity information on the Internet, so that they can be used to communicate on the Internet.

• How do personal versus professional approaches to digital identity affect social media use?

An individual’s digital identity is formed by an individual through participating in network activities. From a social perspective, a digital identity can become the second business card for people to communicate with each other. From a broader perspective, a person’s digital identity also contains his personal data and personal information. As a product of the era of big data.
Digital identity can be regarded as the cornerstone of digitalization in various fields, whether it is government governance, public services, or medical, telecommunications, finance, etc., they are closely related to it.

• How do digital identities converge in networked publics – what are the impacts and/or benefits?

In the digital age, more and more companies regard “data” as their core assets, new resources and new wealth. Digital identity is a key part of network security and an important protective barrier for corporate website data. For individuals, a digital identity can better let people know you and trust you.
